I really enjoyed the 2nd DJ his scratching skill was great and flawless. One problem was that he played a song that was already played twice. The song that was played twice was Left, Right by YG. When Left, Right was played twice the crowd was dead a little bit and the crowd didn't repeat the lyrics as much as they did the first time it was played. The 2nd DJ had headphones on and he spoke on the mic talking to the audience. His programming was much better than the first DJ. Also, I forgot to say that the first DJ that performed his set walked right past me. It wasn't until he disappeared that I decided to introduce myself and tell him that I'm a DJ also and give a little feedback and make a connection. Next time I'll do that.
Hey Rev. So I went out to a club called La Mirage. The first DJ was Ok. He was always staring on his screen like most of us during class he had some good transitions using the backspin and filtering out. there was 3 songs that I wished he could have played longer and I think he could of had a better song selection. Also, he didn't have any headphones. I tried looking to see if he had anything and it seemed like he was using earplugs but I wasn't sure. He never spoke on the mic. After his set another DJ came in. The DJ that came in stood by as the first DJ was finishing about 5 minutes before it was his time. They Swapped computers. They were using USBs so I believe the setups that was being used had 2 USB ports. I didn't see a box.
After the first DJ finished his set, another DJ came and they were swapping, I didn't have a good view to really see how they were switching DJs because there were so many people around. My guess that they were using the DDJ-SX3 and the controller has 2 USB ports that makes it easy to switch. The DJ booth looked really small with little to no space. So the second DJ came and I thought he was better than the first, his scratching was much better and clean and he was more engaging talking to the crowd. I was only at the place for a couple of hours but the songs I heard were mostly throwback songs that are still good for a party. I tried to shazam the music but I wasn't able too. I guess the bass or the music was to much to shazam it.
Hey Rev, I wanted to tell you my observations of me seeing a DJ. So, I went to this place called La Mirage. I was inside and I was watching the DJ. To me it looked like he was staring at the screen a lot. His Laptop was right in from of his face. He was also scratching and his scratching wasn't all that good to me. There were a few songs that I wish he could have continued playing and he dropped a song that was off beat but in less of a second he fixed it, it was noticeable for me but I don't believe for the people that were dancing. During his hour set I've only heard him speak to the crowd about 2 to 3 times. I also believe that the DJ was opening for the next DJ that was gonna come in.
